Manicure Answers

For 2 weeks now I have been using a powder mix with water with hopes of having longer, stronger nails. So, far they are still the same – they chip & break off. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is a good thing to take for longer nails?

Because at first my nails were painted white & it looked AMAZING. And now theyre like this orangey hot pink & it looks like too much on my VERY pale skin tone. SO what are some colors that will look good with my skin color? Thanks!

Hi! I’m looking for high voltage neon shades. I know claire’s has these shades but their nail polishes SUCK… so does anyone know of inexpensive, quality, bright shades of nail polish? Any help will be appreciated.

i am going to be in a school play. i am playing a women from athens named helena. i want to paint my nails for the play. what are some good colors that wont stand out too much but are noticeable?

Our school allows us to wear yellow, white or navy polos with black, white or khaki bottoms which can be skirts, shorts or pants. What kind of nail polish would look good with these kinds of colors?

I try to grow them out but they break easily. Ok,and i keep them in my mouth. That “NoBite” nail polisher doesnt work with me either.

My nails are SO short, & I bite them like crazy…but I need to stop! Does anyone know of any good ways to stop & to get them to grow out somewhat quickly, & effectively?

I’ve tried cornmeal soak, vinegar & that did not work. all of my toenails are black now. have any one tried the pine-sol & soy sauce for black toenails. if so does that work better than vinegar. I’ve also tried lemon juice. help me with this problem.

im into the really bright colors so does anybody know where i can get like a bright yellow or lime green or something veryy bright & flashy? i like opi so prefferbly that, i already have a lot of there colors & my sister works at a nail & hair salon so she could probably get me the colors anytime if i found one i like.

my block is labeled step 1,2,3,blank, also came with a regular nail file from dead sea spa.
says shape nail by filing from corner to center in single direction
-are all the steps done corner to center? is it ever from one side to the other, or bottom to top?
-is this step talking about the blank side on the block or the regular nail file?
-recommends step one-10 seconds, step two 10-15 seconds,step three 15-25 seconds. any changes that should be done to this?
the person at the place told me about her method, I forgot. her job lasted 2+ weeks
when I try it looks “decent” but leaves really fine sanding lines, the gloss isn’t good & it doesn’t last long at all.

I’ve worn my nails bone-short for about 2 years now, & one thing I’ve found out is this–every color works. I’m talking about baby blues & pinks to black or white, or even extremes like fusha or neon green. Because the nails aren’t long, it wont look cheep or cheesy (’cause everyone knows they’re yours) & it’s way better than acrylic because you can change the color at the drop off a dime. Really, you should just go by whatever color YOU think is hot at the moment. But, as a basic guideline, here’s what some different colors can do:
DARKS: Blacks, Blood-Reds, Deep Blues, & Violets usually make your fingers pop, so don’t wear them if you you’re going for a casual, lighter look–unless you’re just adventures like that:)
BROWNS: Well, If you want that whole “naturale” thing, brown is gunna do the job. Be careful with milk chocolate hues…it can make short nails look bad.
PINKS: The universal polish. This color goes for just about any situation & with most casual outfits. Keeping to a basic pink is the best choice.
BLUES: For the general blues, this color works well with outfits containing various colors.
GREENS: It’s not every day that you see somebody with green nail polish. Therefore, you should choose this color wisely. The basic greens pack a mean punch to short nails, so be sure befor you apply.
LIGHTS: The lighter shades of all colors are very great with short nails, & as long as they don’t outrageously clash your outfit (which is hard to do) you’re in the clear for all of them.
GREY&YELLOW: There’s a reason why both of these colors can be found on caution tape. They both are very attractive shades, & sometimes difficult to find. When you put them on, you’ll surely get a lot of stares…
FRENCH MANICURE: Seriously, you can never go wrong with it. It’s perfect for absolutely any occasion or outing. Goes with every & any out fit you can imagine & its CLASSIC. Of course, because it’s so popular, it can run the line of boring, or “done”. So if you’re adventurous, go for a neon!
NEONS: Fun for teens, but once you’re over 25, try to stay away.
TRANSLUCENT: These are polishs that you may have to put on about 5 coats to even see the color! They’re nice if you’re unsure about what color to choose. Two coats & you’re good. It’s the best choice if you don’t want naked nails, but aren’t sure about a color.
WHITE: It’s a challange to wear this with out looking like you used a bottle of white-out. But if you can manage to pull it off, it goes with everything–except maybe if you want a mpre professional look, go for darks.
That’s about all, or at least what I think. Remember, no matter the length, the key to a nice nail is PROPER FILING, so take the time to make your nails shapely!! Hope that helps somewhat.

I am looking for some good brands of nail polish with multiple colors (lime green, yellow, glittery colors, etc). However, they need to be inexpensive but not “chip-off-in-two-days” quality. Any suggestions?
